Changing your allocation for API instances
OpenStack makes no simple way to change an allocation for API instances. There are a few options for this, though.
If you have recently obtained a research allocation and want to move your API instances from your Startup allocation to your Research allocation there are a couple of important steps:
Do not create anything in the new allocation! This is crucial!
Contact Jetstream Support via help@xsede.org to request moving your Startup resources into the Research allocation. It’s very helpful to include the TG-xxxxxxxxx numbers for each.
Support will check everything and confirm a time and date for the move. It should be non-disruptive and all servers should stay active and reachable.
If you use the OpenStack command line client, you'll need to change your openrc file to use the new allocation number
If you use Horizon, you’ll want to make sure it’s set to the correct allocation (see step 1a of https://iujetstream.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JWT/pages/44826638)
If you wish to move instances between existing allocations, you’ll need to take a few steps
Create a snapshot or image of the instance using the instructions here: https://iujetstream.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JWT/pages/544800780 or https://iujetstream.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JWT/pages/72716305
Share them with the other allocation using the instructions here: https://iujetstream.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JWT/pages/965214216 (Horizon docs coming)
